PMEA Orchestras

2009 PMEA Honors Orchestra
Congratulations to the following students for being accepted to participate in the
2009 PMEA Honors Orchestra Festival held November 14-15 at
Fox Chapel Area High School.

2010 PMEA District 1 Orchestras
Students in 10-12th grades have the opportunity to participate in PMEA Sr. High District Orchestra, which will take place in January at North Hills Junior High School. Congratulations to the following students for being accepted to participate in the 2010 festival: Allyson Abbs, bass; Patricia Chen, violin; Leah Dutton, cello; Wendy Jiang, violin; Christina McCabe, violin; Tim Napoli, viola; Will Oestreich, viola; Danielle Runzo, cello; Erin Smith, violin; and Laura Waroblak, bass.

Students in 9th grade have the opportunity to participate in PMEA Jr. High District Orchestra,
which took place in January at Pine-Richland High School.
Congratulations to Ross Antonich, percussion, Sarah Miller, violin, and Dani Runzo, cello for being accepted to participate this year.

2009 PMEA Region Orchestra
Some of our students advance on to PMEA Western Region-State Orchestra. This year, the festival will be held at McDowell High School in Erie, PA in March and will feature some of the best high school musicians across western Pennsylvania. Congratulations to the following students for advancing on to this level: Leah Dutton, cello; Greg Goodman, viola; Chris Kang, violin; Chris Koter, bass; Christina McCabe, violin; Tim Napoli, viola; Ian Preston, trumpet; Philip Song, violin; Dasun Wang, viola.

2009 PMEA All-State Orchestra
The Pennsylvania All-State Orchestra was held from April 22-25, 2009 in Valley Forge, PA. This festival featured some of the best musicians from across the state. Congratulations to our students for advancing on to this level: Greg Goodman, viola; Chris Kang, violin; Chris Koter, bass; Ian Preston, trumpet;
Dasun Wang, viola.

WVU Honors Orchestra

Students from NAI and NASH were selected to participate in the WVU Honors Orchestra festival to be held at West Virginia University in February. This unique event features high school musicians from across Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, and Virginia. Our students prepare music, rehearse and perform with the conductor of the West Virginia University Orchestra, work with WVU music professors, and attend a West Virginia University Orchestra concert. In 2009, these students are: Derek Faux, bass; Emily Gibbs, viola; Abi Gunn, violin; Marcus Hambrick, bass; Wendy Jiang, violin; Caroline Koenig, violin; Mary Maxwell, violin; Michael Maxwell, cello; Alex McClurg, bass; Sarah Miller, violin; Jacob Plichta, bass; Matt Poole, violin; Alli Schwer, bass; Amy Uihlein, violin; Laura Waroblak, bass; Amy Zhang, violin; Jon Zuzk, cello.
